Day Two: Lesson 4-6 Probability of Compound Events

Objective: to find the probability of independent events and dependents events and to be able to recognize the difference between the two.

Learning Environment: My classroom will be set up with different stations that have pictures of the raffle items along with raffle tickets to be bought by the students.

A class activity called Raffle Tickets will allow students to spend $100 of fake money (per group of 3 students) on buying raffle tickets for four different prizes. Students will decide how many of each raffle ticket their group will purchase with the money they have. Once everyone has spent their money, students will tally the ticket results in a table () and determine the probability of winning each prize based on the total number of tickets sold for each prize. They will then apply that knowledge to questions leading them into the lesson about independent and dependent events. I will then present a short active board lesson going into more detail. Students will complete an assignment from the book (pg 222 2-32evens, 36-42).
